Jewelry
Gemstones are best photographed using a light source that illuminates
the facets of the stone. If possible, back lighting should be used,
particularly if the setting allows light to shine up through the
stone.
Photographing against a dark grey or black
background can make gold or silver appear more vibrant and add contrast
and drama to the image, adding to it's appeal.
A softbox will create even illumination
and may be a good investment for those who deal with jewelry on
a regular basis.
A macro lens on a tripod will yield the
best results.
