Paintings
When photographing paintings we suggest
the following:
- In addition to the main image, photograph
each of the four quadrants (upper left, lower left, upper right,
lower right), any signatures, the back of the painting, and a
few close-ups of interesting details
- Document all damage.
- If possible, photograph the painting
outside of the frame
- Uniform lighting is important to prevent
glare and evenly illuminate the artwork
- Proper color balance is particularly
important. Always view the actual painting next to the image on
the computer screen and make color adjustments as needed.
- A flat
copystand setup will work well for most paintings
